About our research
We specialise in research pertaining to engineering management and technology management systems. We have interests in:
- Sustainable production management and operational management systems including production planning & control and procurement - We explore sustainable production management and operational management systems, including production planning, control, and procurement. This encompasses lean production systems, especially in construction and infrastructure management, utilising tools like system dynamics and systems thinking.
- Technology change management and organisational learning - All engineering workplaces and activities require effective management systems that make efficient use of resources. The human element in these technical systems are often critical to the overall system function. We specialise in investigating the socio-technical interactions in such systems with an aim to incorporate challenges such as sustainability, technological change and large complex system. Education and Training are an important aspect of these interactions.
- Upcycling processes in circular economy - Our research focuses on innovative upcycling processes within the circular economy framework, emphasising sustainable production methods that address end-of-life challenges for products. We investigate systematic approaches to repurpose materials and components, ensuring they don't end up in landfills but are instead reintegrated into sustainable production operations. By exploring efficient upcycling techniques, circular design principles, and the environmental and economic impacts of these processes, our work aims to bridge the gap between waste management and sustainable manufacturing. This research contributes significantly to advancing circular economy practices, promoting a more sustainable and resource-efficient industrial landscape.
