Cold-formed steel buildings

This three-year project funded by the Building 4.0 CRC with industries partners (BlueScope) under the umbrella project (Project #24) to look at the robustness of light gauge steel (LGS) mid-rise buildings.

The connection in cold-formed buildings is usually made by means of screws which have very low tying strength required for structural robustness. Therefore, this project will develop structural solutions and cost-effective design methods to ensure the structural robustness requirements for mid-rise applications of LGS structures. This project will conduct experimental testing, develop numerical models for parameter study, and propose technical guidance to promote the real-world application of the newly developed structural systems. The result will be updated soon.
