Project Details
Ultra-soft soils in Australia’s largest urban development precinct, i.e., the Fishermans Bend (FB) precinct, creates significant geotechnical challenges, particularly the near surface weak compressible soil, i.e., Coode Island Silt (CIS). For the sustainable design of infrastructure constructed on such soft soils, an accurate and reliable estimation of the strength properties of the soils is essential. However, in-situ procedures suffer from sampling disturbance which eventually leads to a misleading estimation of soil strength parameters. Therefore, this project aims to accurately predict the engineering behaviours of CIS in FB precinct based on advanced in-situ and laboratory element testing.
