Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) are increasingly used in deep waters to meet the growing demand for renewable energy. These systems rely on anchorage solutions such as suction anchors, which are subjected to inclined cyclic tensile loads. While the performance of suction anchors in clay has been widely studied, their behavior in sandy seabeds remains insufficiently explored. This project aims to develop advanced numerical models to simulate suction anchor response in sand, accounting for ratcheting behavior and cyclic mobility. In addition, a closed-form solution will be developed to efficiently predict anchor performance under various drainage conditions. The research will improve anchor-soil understanding and support more reliable, efficient design of FOWT foundations, contributing to the advancement of offshore wind energy infrastructure.
