Research

The energy that we consume is impacted by the technologies we use to consume it, and how that energy is produced. Our research focuses on the theoretical and practical applications of energy systems and their planning.

Ranges of technologies applied to, and developed for, include:

• Solar energy engineering
• Energy from biomass and wastes
• Energy efficiency
• Building energy management.

We investigate these technologies and how they can be applied in energy planning and energy end use. We also examine the social and political factors influencing the acceptance of energy technologies.

Specialist consulting projects have ranged from formulation to evaluation of energy systems, and independent monitoring.
